Music Makers Program

musicMakers2 article

At Andrea's Music Studio we strive to offer a musical experience where each child can freely experience the joys of music which in turn will develop and enhance a sense of well being, self-esteem, and pure enjoyment.

In addition, the musical experience will give the opportunity of physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development in an atmosphere that is MUSICALLY natural.

Music Makers Drop In

Family Music Makers Drop-Ins

Ages: Birth to 5 years

$8.00 per child (Drop-In Price)

$6.00 per child (Pre-registeration - full term payment price)

Experience songs, musical styles, creative movement, rhythm instruments, musical playtime, and more, while making new friends.

Older and younger siblings may attend the same class. This is an interactive musical playtime for babies, toddlers, pre schoolers, and their parent or caregiver.

Our Mandate:

To offer children from birth to 5 years the opportunity to experience the many facets of music through the following activities: singing, listening, improvisation, creative expression, musical interpretation, small and gross motor activities.

Our Goal:

To offer an age appropriate musical experience that allows all participants to engage in self expression and enjoy the basic love of music in a non inhibiting learning environment.

A typical lesson consists of the following:

A song or two sung using a felt board and visuals or actions.  Musical interpretation or creative movement styles are explored with and without the use of rhythm instruments and pre-recorded dance music such as Calypso, Jive, Swing, etc.  The musical interpretation activities to explore and play with the musical concepts of fast/slow, high/low, smooth/bumpy, loud/soft, glissando, varying tempo, musical direction, and beat recognition.  We use free expression, pompoms, or scarves to move with the music. Select musical instruments such as a guitar, keyboard, bongos, and glockenspiel are offered on a regular basis for the children to listen to and play.  A rhythm band signifies the end of the class: maracas, tambourines, triangles, and shaker eggs are given out and played along with a pre-recorded song.  The children dance or sit and enjoy.  Once the song is finished and the instruments are put away we sit and quietly sing our good-bye song.  All this happens in a 30 minute lesson that is fast paced thus keeping the attention of every child.  The activities are age appropriate and presented in a manner that does not overwhelm the child.
